ODE TO SPRING SKING
by C.Talbotski
The background: Let’s start with what you have missed so far. March 10th through the 12th was all fun in the sun, with firm snow and excellent grooming. The 13th and 14th had the snow a marching in, with 15 inches of new in 24 hours, yet another day to go big. More blue bird days until the 20th when there was 8 inches of new followed up by 5 more on the 21st ... purely powderlicious. As if you haven’t heard enough, there was powder chunder from down under with sunshine on Saturday and you could hear the snow falling on Sunday. And now major dumpage all week long! It's been great so read on...
The Ode
Still to come is the carving con cornE blue bird days of April. No that’s not made by Nalley, but is great for the ski/ride rally. Even if you just like the scenery, skiing at White Pass in April is like visiting the bikinery. There is no time for golf or mowing the lawn, the days of spring skiing will soon be gone.
Get out of the garden, skip a couple practices, clean the house later, visit the in-laws in May, cover up your clubs, leave the dirt bikes on the trailer, leave your fishing pole at home, turn off the barbeque, leave the boat in the garage, let the spring chores go. This ode may be corny but so is the snow.
If you still don’t believe me come see for yourself, the spring riding is good for your health. Be sure to wear sunscreen to cover your tan, so when you get back to work you’ll still be the man. The bumps will be soft, the snow will be good, you can have lunch on top, if you don’t you should. The point of this ode should be crystal clear. Why are you working when you could be up here?
